crDroid 12 (Android 16) — Development in Progress
The next major version of crDroid is in the works: crDroid 12, based on Android 16.
We're excited about what Android 16 brings to the table, but more importantly, we're committed to delivering the crDroid experience you've come to expect — clean, customizable, and stable. Porting the features that make crDroid what it is takes time, and we're working hard to bring them all over while adapting to the changes introduced in the new base.
What to expect (Eventually)
If you're wondering when crDroid 12 will be officially released:
We don't have an ETA. We’re not in a race. Our priority is quality over speed.
We’ve already started internal testing on a variety of devices and made good progress, but:
- This is a work in progress — not feature-complete
- Many of your favorite crDroid customizations are still being ported
- Initial builds may be rough around the edges or missing features
- Not all devices will get builds right away
Status: Testing has begun
Some devices have already entered the testing phase. These builds are not ready for daily use, but they help us gather feedback, squash bugs, and refine the core experience. If you’re into early testing, keep an eye on your device’s Telegram groups or XDA threads — you might see some unofficial builds floating around.

crDroid 11.7 is also ready
While we focus on crDroid 12, crDroid 11 is still getting updates. The July release — crDroid 11.7 — is out now.
Note: This month, Google didn't push any new security patches. The SPL was bumped, but that's it from upstream.
Still, we've included several fixes and optimizations:
- Added more Cloudflare and Quad9 Private DNS options
- QSAnimator: fixed random crash
- Launcher3: QuickSpace: only set marquee effect when needed
- Launcher3: QuickSpace: remove expensive invalidate calls during onAnimationUpdate
- Launcher3: improve restart logic
- Launcher3: SplitToWorkspaceController: fix nullability crashes
- Launcher3: QuickSpace: remove introduction logic
- Launcher3: QuickSpace: avoid creating new Random instance every time
- Fixed random system hang on reboot
- Moved play/pause music gestures to Lineage implementation
- Updated Chromium WebView to
137.0.7151.72
- Various small optimizations and updated translations
Final words
We know crDroid 11 has been rock solid for many of you, and we want to make sure crDroid 12 doesn’t just match that — it improves on it. That means no rushed builds, no broken features, and no compromises.
